Imperative Sentence

Imperative Sentences: The sentences that are used to give commands or instructions, make requests and give advice are referred to as Imperative Sentences. They can be classified as

  • Command Instruction: Bring your Science book tomorrow.
  • Request: Dolly my sweet daughter, please get me glass of water.
  • Advice: You must give an analytical test are revising your topics.
  • For example :

  • Stay quiet.  (a command)
  • Go! (a command)
  • Will you please help me with the books ?  (a request)
  • The imperative sentence allows the speaker to drop the subject. (Since the speaker is speaking directly). Also an imperative sentence that conveys begins with a verb.
